Karachi Bachao Tehreek is a grassroots movement of demolition-affected people and their allies. Since we do not accept funds from any corporate giants or governmental or Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), all our funds are from the people.
We are a collective of Affectees and activists who have come together for the cause of housing rights of working-class communities in Karachi, and this cause requires capital.

Stay Orders To Stop Illegal Demolitions
Your donations help us get stay orders for houses that may get demolished at any time.
Our strategy is to get stay orders for as many houses as possible so we can prevent more and more houses from being demolished.
Getting stay orders is a task that needs to be done beforehand, so the more funds we have, the more stay orders we can get, preventing any sudden demolitions. This ensures that families have a roof over their heads while the matter is being processed through the courts.
Litigation for Saving Homes
Though most of the legal work done through KBT is on a pron-bono basis by our legal team, yet, various legal fees need to be paid to process the cases.
Your funds help us register these cases to courts to get justice for the demolition-affected people in their fight for housing rights.
Media and Press to Create Awareness
For a grassroots movement like ours, we must ensure that when we call for protests and rallies, the media hears and covers us. Through the funds you send us, we cover Karachi Press Club fees to hold press conferences so we can register our collective voices in the right places.
Research and Advocacy Work
One of the tools through which the government conducts demolitions in the city is by producing a narrative based on biased information.
When you send us your donations, you effectively help us counter those narratives by acquiring resources to research affected areas with the affectees to present the lived experiences of affectees on the ground. This includes putting together information on how many were affected, how many families, income, community fragmentation, and much more; all of this helps us build our case and fight to protect the marginalized communities!
Facilitating Affectees with Transport To Protests
None of our protests are conducted without the presence of the voices of our affectees. Be it the Karachi Press Club or the Supreme Court Registry, the most powerful voices in our protests are those of our affectees. Through the funds from your donations, we arrange transport and facilitate mobility for affectees from their communities to get to the protest venues.
